What is Aaron James?



It all started when I was a lot younger as music has always played a big part in my life. Through growing up with my Mum listening to the likes Hacienda & Wigan Pier, but I suppose you could say I became properly hooked on the Hard House/Hard Dance scene after going to my 1st ever rave & seeing Lisa Lashes play at Turnmills back in 2004. From there on my Mum introduced me to & I found myself exploring the larger more commercial venues, e.g. Academy, The Fridge & Heaven.

I had already started mixing (if that's what you could've called it) using CD's and MP3's. Varying my styles from Drum N Bass, Old School UK Garage and Funky House. I was then introduced to Tony Kaos at one of the Tidy's @ Heaven and from there struck up a friendship and then discovered the Brixton/Vauxhall underground scene through supporting him at gigs, and I caught the bug BIG TIME! Tony took me under his wing & introduced me to the wonders of vinyl. From there on I progressed through those hard times where you’re still learning to become a DJ with him being my mentor. I cannot thank him enough for the time & effort he put in to helping me make that first step, not to mention the amount of choons he provided for me (still got most of em now hehe).

I've been out on the scene now for just under 3 years and have been mixing for just under 2. I played my first set out in a club with a proper sound system January 27th 2007 @ Factory for Smile (Nice 1 for that Sam bruv). I have made many new friends, and have had to say goodbye to others, even in that short space of time, but times change and you move on. The one's that have had leave will never be forgotten, and the new one's we meet on the way will always be remembered.

In my first year I have successfully played for: Smile, Kompliance, Baklash, Sundaze, Hammered, Total Mayhem, Hectic, Night Shift, Just Groove and even most recently Frantic HDS & Glow Ball. I am also a proud member of the HIJACK SQUAD; this is a collective of DJ's which consists of Tony Kaos, Samson, Myself and Ted Patrick. The four of us all play different styles of Hard House/Hard Dance that when merged together become a force to be reckoned with.

If you ever see me play out, don't be afraid to come say hello, what I want the most from you is honesty. If you have heard me play a shit set, come and tell me, I want to know these things because after all, how can any of us progress if we don't know what we're doing wrong. But also if you hear a good set, it's always nice to be told you've smashed it hehe.

Music Style: As I pointed out above, I can play multiple styles, but my preferred music is hard house, around 158/159+ BPM, ya know, proper banging lol
