Digital continues to push musical boudaries with one hot lineup! This special event is gonna be the highlight of the Summer with Jody Wisternoff fresh from producing the new WayOutWest album with Nick Warren we welcome him at Digital for his debut, this obviously does not take into account his appearences at Empathy and as resident back in the day. Hes a Bristol legend, a really nice guy and is a excellent Dj, so expect some new tracks from the WayOutWest album and his recent remixes to boot.
Also we welcome Kingpin resident and producer of all things techno and breaks, Kraymon! Hes the tightest mixer in town and has a awesome record box so watch your toes! In support Digital residents Ian Cole and Stuart Wilkinson.
With the usual antics on the dancefloor, the garden will open all night, the BBQ will be on the go so come and dance your toes off if you have any.
Expect some unexpected randomness at this special night ;)
Jody Wisternoff- Biography
Jody's biog is deceptive, as he's achieved so much in a short space of time. Selling over 100,000 albums and delivering a Top 40 hit with his band Way Out West would be enough for most people. Yet along side their 3 Albums, countless remixes and production duties on everyone from the astonishingly cool (James Holden, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Orb, Roni Size) to the ridiculous (Natalie Imbruglia) Jody has managed to create music that not only elevates every dance floor but has also been used heavily in film and TV,(The OC, CSI, Grey's). 2004/2005 also saw a world tour on their own and sharing billing with Faithless and festival slots for Radio 1 at Glastonbury, Creamfields Prague, Creamfields UK and Argentina. Jody's sound has been his global meal ticket. But let's rewind a little to before all that happened, he'd already won the DMC Mixing championship regional heats at the criminally young age of 15, torn every rave apart in the early 90s as Sub Love with Full Cycle's DJ Die and dj’d at most clubs Worldwide worth djing at, then got the band together (Way Out West) by the time he was twenty and on single three tore up the airwaves and the TOTP studio, with partner Nick Warren on their big hit "The Gift". Right now, with a new Way Out West album slowly taking shape (the fourth) he has been producing solo works (first single "Cold Drink, Hot Girl" came out on Distinctive), followed by Nostalgia on Be Yourself, and has now picked up his djing habit again and is partying on a global scale! You can also catch Jody every month on Proton Radio!
Kraymon- Biography
His debut single ‘Got to Get Busy’ was a clear indication of his musical intentions and since its release in 2001, he has been doing exactly that. Sporadically; but definitely doing it. (In this sense, the message behind other track titles, such as ‘Time Wasting’, should undeniably be ignored). Nowadays he has more strings to his bow than a cheese straw and is involved in a multitude of remixes, club nights, tours abroad, and kazoo master classes.
Starting off putting out music in the break beat playpen, he clambered over the top and landed safely on a mattress of electronic musical fibres. Regardless of the tune, however, there is always a distinct Kraymon style; hard to define, impossible to resist. Actually, some have attempted to define it, but such valiant efforts always result in nonsensical words. But it is fair to say he is renowned for his colossal squelchy bass and sublime, crispy production. Kraymon makes dance floors a very sweaty place with tracks such as ‘Just Press Play’ which is guaranteed to get things moving. All you need to do is Press Play.
Everyone wants a fat slice of the Kraymon cake, and many record labels ask for second helping, including Boombox, En:vision, Freakaboom, MBN, Streetwise and local Bristol based Vertical Sound Records. He also gets to fiddle around with music made by his contemporaries and remixes all over the shop, most recently with Cut la Roc and 30Hz.
In addition to being a resident at Kingpin, Kraymon has played far and wide in the UK, ranging from New Years Eve slots in Brighton, to playing at Glade festival, to live sets at Fabric. He is a generous chap. Not content with amusing the masses at home, Kraymon has been known to go on one-man road trips to lands afar, ranging from playing weekends in European cities, to mixing it up on the other side of the world in Australia. The venue is almost irrelevant. He sounds just as good everywhere; luckily. And if that wasn’t enough, he has been generous enough to ensure the rest of the world isn’t excluded, and there are many more peripatetic plans are in the pipeline.
