NightShift: Why is it the fastest growing hard dance night?

Night Shift has become one of the fastest growing group for any club promotion in the history of DSI, the last event left an array of flattery that most club promoters dream of ranging from “the best nite of my life” through to “Cyber has found a new home and its called Night Shift”.

The event run by clubbers for clubbers has taken a different approach to the hard house scene which has gone down a storm and is already being copied by the larger promotions.

With over 200 members before their second event, we asked the people a couple of experienced clubbers who went what made this new hard house different from all the others…

H4rdc0re:
“I know even before I write this that I am going to miss so much info out as never before have I wrote up a review where the only negativity was the going home bit!

The first thought that popped into my head upon entering Room 1 was WOW! You could see these are real party people that have made this room up, they share the same vision as the clubbers… the lasers were awesome and there were ravers already in full stomp even this early on in the night…

I walked into the 2nd room (the first time I had ever seen this room) and saw an amazing layout here too, the stage section for poi spinners and dancers had a truly memorising psychedelic painting on the wall, which gave great effects for spotters later on.

I dashed outside for a quick ciggy, and noticed they’d even thought of the smokers by putting a little shelter up for us where we could watch the fire poi that was taking place on the grass!

Tonight Night Shift really stamped its mark on Brixton as locals watched in fascination at this community of clubbers gathered around in Brixton totally fearless. Definitely a reassuring feeling never before achieved by any other event.

The highlight of my night was speaking to and meeting so many lovely people, Night Shift really brought back the true meaning to clubbing and all that is good in the underground nightlife.

I just hope they continue to provide successful nights such as these as it’s left me wanting More and More!!! =0)”

“I'm fortunate enough to say that I've never had a bad night out and I've certainly had a good many great nights out. But the number of events I've been to over the past 10 years that stand out for all the right reasons are very few and far between - Night Shift on 20th October was just such a night.

It started with the effort that the promoters had put into the event right from the start - fire poi dancers outside the club before you even stepped foot inside, followed by the outstanding decor hanging down and on the walls, the amazing dancers and spinners on show in both rooms, as well as the fantastic light show and lasers. Then came the music, which was a truly fantastic mix of Hard Dance styles, with top name DJ's such as Cally Gage, Kevin Energy, Technikal etc. performing to a very receptive crowd. And then came the clubbers themselves. I don't think I've ever seen a happier, more excited, energised and wholeheartedly up for it crowd, ever before. I even had to ask people on the night if I was in a dreamworld or whether the vibe of the place was real and all I got back was confirmation - the night was hitting everyone in all the right places.

So what one thing made this event stand out, perhaps more than any other? I reckon the best way to describe it, would be to say that it was more of a "party" than an "event". The promoters wanted it for the clubbers; the DJ's wanted it for the clubbers; and guess what, the clubbers gave it back 110% to the people who were making this a night to remember. It was quite simply a combination of absolutely everything that is great for a night out, coming together at the same time.

I've not seen so much cyber in ages - discount on the door for those who turned up in cyber was a great idea; I've never seen so many smiling faces; I've not felt such a positive vibe and energy ever before; I've never been given a "goodie" bag when leaving the club before - and I'm not talking about a bunch of flyers.

If I could give the promoters one piece of advice - DON'T CHANGE A THING. You've hit on an amazing combination which will keep people coming back regularly. I for one, will never miss a Night Shift. In 10 years, this ranks in my top 3 best nights out EVER and actually ranks 1st in events that are currently still running.”

The date for the next Night Shift hasn’t been announced yet but I’ve been informed that the plans for the next two are well underway and will be taking place in the new year.

This event truly is something new and special, with a vibe not seen elsewhere. I have heard other nights are copying some of what is going on here like encouraging cyber, but personally feel they are completely missing why this night has the vibe. As already said it is not down to any one thing but a combination of everything that the NightShift guys do to make this a truly great event!!

There is nothing to worry about, like a lot of venues in London there are nights when the venue isnt being used and they want to obviously make the most of it. Most clubs at the moment are offering venuw hire at heavily discounted rates
