1: WHAT TRACKS ARE FLOATING YOUR BOAT RIGHT NOW?
At the minute I'm really feeling tracks by Andrea Montorsi, FJ Project, Jon The Baptist, Tommy Pulse, Luca Antolini, Dave Joy, Uberduck, Megara & Lee & Tons of others. If it's hard & uplifting with a solid riff
or melody I'm all over it. Also loving the new hard electro type stuff by the likes of BK,Vinylgroover, Black Russian etc.
2: ANY NEW PRODUCTIONS IN THE PIPELINE?
I've just been asked to remix the classic hard dance tune D6 for Jon Doe, K90 has asked me to supply a remix for his eagerly awaited Urban Anthems - Remixes Album. Really excited about this as I love nearly every tune on the original album, will be hard to pick just one to remix.
More recently Louk has asked me to remix his rocking new tune 'Follow Me' which Kutski has already been airing on Radio 1 and with a bit of luck will be out on Red Alert, Italy.
3: WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW IN THE STUDIO?
I'm currently working on ideas for the next Hindsight release and also a few bits of Electro. This is another style I have been well into for the past few years and really enjoy making it & playing it.
4: WHATS BEEN THE BEST GIG YOU'VE DONE THIS YEAR SO FAR?
LOL going have to be biased here, It would have to be our Hindsight event back in April @ Bohemia with Ed Real. It was the first time
we took over the main room of the club; the atmosphere was top notch from start to finish and the 500+ people there really made the night.
5: AND WHY?
Had an enormous amount of fun that night and that's what its all about.
6: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DJING FOR?
I have been djing since I was at school when I used to do my own school's discos. I think about the age of 13/14 when I started listening to Prodigy, Dance Planet, Nick Warren's show on Galaxy 101, Dreamscape etc & getting a real flavor for the underground rave scene.
It was about this time that I bought my first set of decks. One with a rotary pitch control the other without
I'm now 27 so that's nearly 14 years I think.
7: MOST MEMORABLE GIG IN YOUR CAREER?
Without doubt Slammin’ Vinyl NYE 2004 @ The Royal Bath & West Showground. This was the venue for the first multi arena rave I ever attended. 'Dreamscape 27' and if you told me that night that in 8 years time I'd be up there playing I wouldn't have believed you. A real personal milestone for me. Top night, top crowd.
8: HOW IMPORTANT IS IMAGE FOR THE DJ?
I think Music will always come first for most Dj’s; it certainly does for me although some Dj's have propelled themselves onto a global platform due to their image. This is a very good question indeed but you are talking to someone who growing up would spend his pocket money on some new 12"'s rather than a new T Shirt lol
9: IS IT ENOUGH JUST BEING A DJ NOWADAYS?
There are some Jocks who have made it purely off the back of talent, I mean look at Eddie Halliwell for instance but I am inclined to answer no to this question though. These days I think you have to have good networking skills, obviously most people in the scene spend their waking lives in front of a computer screen nowadays which never used to be the case. My advice to any any budding dj's is find something you can offer the scene as well as your raw dj talent whether it be running your own night, your own label, maybe even your own flyer design setup, whatever, just something that will bring you into contact with the people you need to promote yourself too.
10: ANY UPCOMING DJS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?
The Southwest is a real hot bed for new talent at the mo with the likes of Vandall, Jon The Baptist & Chuck E, Louk, Kidd Kaos, Joe E, Mike Steventon, Log:one & Wragg, Sully all making waves on the production & Dj'ing side of things. Exciting times for all concerned.
11: WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE
HARD DANCE SCENE AT THE MOMENT?
As I stated above it is exciting times for hard dance at the moment with tons of new fresh talent emerging & a real community spirit especially down here in the South West.
One grumble I do have is that certain Dj's & Agencies seem to be a little bit out of touch with what’s actually going on out there in the clubs when it comes to the money they are commanding (or trying to)
for sets. It's all about being realistic & surely trying to preserve the very scene that they are working towards maintaining.
Overall it's all looking very positive and with nights like Atmosphere, Tranzaction, Bionic, Afterdark & of course Hindsight all pulling large weight this end of the country I can see 2008 being a very good year.
12: WHERE CAN PEOPLE CATCH YOU PLAYING OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS?
You can catch me at Hindsight (Exeter & Torquay), Tranzaction (Truro), Afterdark (Plymouth), Ripsnorter (Bristol), Waveform Festival (Nr Swindon), Freeformation (London), Atmosphere (Seaton), Zurich (Switzerland), The Tunnel Club (Germany) tbc and of course DHF @ Mass (London) between now & November.
